The tumultuous recent past is history, however tourism in Myanmar is facing new challenges. We have no influence in what happens but we can support the people in lesser visited areas who depend on their income. For those who are willing to give it a try to visit Myanmar but prefer not to travel to the main sites, there are options such as the dreamy corner in the South with its golden & white beaches, the Archipelago with its sea gypsies the Moken and Ngapali beach at the Bay of Bengal. Even if unethical behavior is supported by many citizens, interacting with them may lead to more understanding: Travel changes lives of travelers as well as of the people they visit. A travel-boycott never is a solution. Speaking of 3 decades of Myanmar experience, the past has proven it.
