7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS - BURMESE DAYS 1
(MANDALAY- THABEIKKYIN - TAGAUNG - KATHA - TAGAUNG - KYUAK MYAUNG - MANDALAY)

DAY 1: MANDALAY JETTY – THABEIKKYIN (L/D)
Early morning flight to Mandalay and from there transfer to the jetty for your private cruise on the Ayeyarwaddy River. It is evident that Myanmar is rich in golden and white-washed stupas and pagodas as you travel along the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River. At the centre of the defile, you can pay homage to the ancient Angar Thiha Daw Pagoda

DAY 2: THABEIKKYIN – TAGAUNG (B/L/D)
This morning you continue upstream ‘sailing’ to Tagaung, which is believed to be one of the oldest cities in Myanmar. Explore by foot the ancient city of Tagaung viewing the fortifications, a famous nat or spirit shrine and the archaeological area. Continue upstream to Tagaung.

DAY 3: TAGAUNG - KATHA (B/L/D)
Today your last day upstream to Kathar, one of the major port along the Ayeyarwaddy river and famous by the setting for George Orwell's Burmese. Visit George Orwell’s Katha by trishaw and go back in time to his Burmese Days. Take in the atmosphere of the old colonial buildings and the more than 100 year old saman trees, nothing has changed much…don’t be surprised about the neglected colonial houses… they only started restoring the colonial buildings in Yangon… Katha is not ‘on their map right now…

DAY 4: KATHA – ELEPHANT CAMP – KATHAR (B/L/D)

Today you will visit an elephant camp and learn about their daily life. You will drive with a local pick up/truck and walk the last mile to the elephant camp. You will just enjoy being out of any tourist spots! Overnight in Katha.

DAY 5: KATHA - TAGAUNG (F/M/A) (B/L/D)

Today you will be heading back downstream towards Tagaung. Along the way you may stop at a village or two to do a little bit of exploring as well as meeting the locals. These villages get very few visitors since they are remote and almost no foreign travelers... so your visit is exciting for them and a new cultural experience for you. Your guide will be discussing with the captain where to stop.

DAY 6:  TAGAUNG – KYAUK MYAUNG (B/L/D)

As the river continues to take you downstream, today you will be visiting a pottery village. Not only will you get insight into pottery and see how it’s made in this particular village and what they do with it all, you will get a chance to play around with the pottery yourself! If there is enough time, you may even have a few hand made souvenirs of your own to take back home!

DAY 7: KYAUK MYAUNG – MANDALAY (B/L)

Today you will sail towards Mandalay and stop by a few more river villages with local markets, old monasteries, and schools wherechildren get extremely excited to have visitors as most have never likely to have left their village yet get foreign visitors. It is always a fun and heart warming experience to get to meet children! At the jetty in Mandalay your unique journey on the mighty Ayeyarwady River ends.
